Studio lighting P4D

For this task I will be focusing on the different types of studio lighting. The three lighting set-ups that I will be focusing on are: Rembrandt lighting set-up, Split lighting set-up, Butterfly lighting.

Rembrandt lighting set up.

Picture1

In the middle go the diagram is the subject is positioned where I would like them to be with their body facing the main light. I have the reflector on a 45 degree angle to my subject. I have positioned the camera in between the light and the reflector. The light set up is capable of producing images which appear both neutral and compelling.

The camera settings I used was ISO 100, shutter speed 1/40 and f-stop 1.4 this photo I took in colour with the Rembrandt lighting set up. This is soft light.

Split light set-up.

Picture1

In the middle of this diagram is the subject is positioned where I would like them to be with there body face onto the camera and the side of there body hitting the light. I have the light on the side of my subject this is so that the light is on half of the face. I position the camera onto the subject. The mood created is more dramatic, the shadow part of the face takes centre stage in the mood of the shot.

IMG_7438For this image I used the camera settings the ISO was set to 100, shutter speed 1/40 and the f-stop was 1.4 I took this photo in back and white so that I could see the split lighting more clearly. This lighting is harsh lighting.

Butterfly lighting:

Picture1In the middle of this diagram is the subject is positioned where I would like them to be with there body face onto the camera. I have propositioned the light above and directed down onto my subject. I position the camera underneath my light. The butterfly lighting gives a commercial look with just a small change to the light position when using Butterfly.
